Kuala Lumpur, A Beautiful Experience Awaits You!
Message From The Mayor

“Selamat Datang” means welcome. And I hope that this website will give you that welcomed feeling when you visit our city. There is information here that will help you to plan your trip, get around and get to know a little of what KL has to offer.

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, is a bustling metropolis and home to 1.4 million people from many different races, religions and cultures. Our city is a melting pot of ethnic and cultural diversity. Diversity is the spice of life in Kuala Lumpur, where Malays, Chinese, Indians and others have all injected their own unique influences to Kuala Lumpur’s Art, Language, Architecture and Food Scene. The city is abundant with flavours, colours and experiences that are just waiting for you.

Kuala Lumpur also plays host to colourful festivals and cultural celebrations that flourish all year round. Our multi-ethnic population observes their religious, cultural and national celebrations in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance as our city is filled with colour and festivity. Major events, festivals and celebrations to look out for are the Federal Territory Day, National Day, The Birthday of the Yang Dipertuan Agong (or King) of Malaysia, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Christmas, Wesak Day, Thaipusam, and the many other cultural events that brighten up the city.

Known simply as KL to most Malaysians, our city is a heady mix of history & culture within one of the most modern and aesthetic metropolises in the world. Historic landmarks pepper the cityscape and are intertwined with modern skyscrapers and office towers. Ours is a city that preserves its cultural heritage and yet provides the most modern conveniences making it an interesting and ideal destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions.

Kuala Lumpur is a shopper’s paradise, a gourmet’s haven, an architect’s inspiration and an artist’s muse. It is a city where one can find different tempos – from the tranquility of a health spa to the frenetic beat of the nightlife and club scene, is not short on entertainment options for the young and the young at heart.

For every visitor, Kuala Lumpur is an experience just waiting to happen. I can safely say that once you visit, I know that we will welcome you back to our city in the future.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Fuad bin Ismail
Mayor of Kuala Lumpur
