Sri Kandaswamy Kovil

One of Kuala Lumpur's oldest and most characterful places of worship, Sri Kandaswamy Kovil was founded at the turn of the 20th Century. Its original purpose was to serve the local community of Tamil Hindus from Ceylon (Sri Lanka), many of whom still live in Brickfields. The temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Murugan, the most popular deity among Tamils, but falls within the board Shaiva tradition. It is widely acknowledged as the second most important Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur
