Jalan Alor

Jalan Alor is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and it famously known as a lively street food haven. This street comes alive every night with the sights, sounds and smells of hawkers cooking on pavement cafes. From the moment you come around the corner of Jalan Alor, you will be hit by a hundred different aromas, not to mention the hustle and bustle of busy hawkers and hungry customers. The entire street is lined with stalls, coffee shops and restaurants selling a variety of mainly Chinese hawker fare. The stalls are parked all along the street, and it can be quite an overwhelming experience for the first timers, who may have some difficulty on deciding what to eat. But don’t feel intimidated if you can’t understand what the dishes are called or made of as most of the menus have pictures of each delicacy.

You can find everything from crispy fried intestines to all types of satay, from spicy marinated grilled stingray to a variety of noodles and rice dishes. Main courses can be washed down with a large cold beer or some exotic fresh fruit juice (try the sugarcane juice!). If the shopkeeper does not sell the dish or drink you want, just make a request and he will often go and purchase it from another stall.
