Budget Taxi



Budget taxis are identified with their red and white colours. There’s an initial charge of RM3 for the first km of your travel. Thereafter, the rate is RM1 for every km. There are also various small surcharges like radio call (RM2) and baggage (RM1 per piece), among others.
Midnight surcharge is applicable on pickups from 00:01-05:59. This surcharge means meter prices are increased by 50% (e.g. at 01:00, if the meter shows RM12, you should pay RM12+6).
Places like KLIA, LCCT, KL Sentral, Menara KL and Sunway Pyramid Mall enforce a prepaid coupon system, which generally work out more expensive than using the meter, but cheaper than bargaining. Taxis from Pavilion Shopping Mall's taxi counter cost the meter with a RM2 surcharge.
